Rev. Kenneth F. Gorman

Rev. Ken Gorman comes to Timnath Presbyterian Church as Interim Pastor having served most recently as the pastor of LaPorte Presbyterian Church, and as a nursing home chaplain. He is married to Dee and has a daughter, two sons, and four grandchildren.
While Ken has played an active part in the Presbyterian Church for many years, he became ordained as a Presbyterian pastor in 1996 after four years at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in New Brighton, MN. He brings a wealth of understanding and experience to the ministry. He has served in the US Marine Corps in Vietnam, worked as a high school teacher and coach, served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity and the Superior/Douglas County Housing Task Force, has been trained in hospital chaplaincy, and has served the Church both as a ruling elder and as a pastor. He considers most of the work he has done in his life to be the work of ministry—that is, an occasion to apply theology to life and to practice spirituality in the settings of everyday experience. In addition to his degree of Master of Divinity, he holds a Bachelor's degree in English.
In Ken's ministry Christian education is vital to nurturing persons in their faith, understanding who God is, and grasping how God is at work in their lives and in the world. Further, it helps individuals to understand how God calls us to be active participants in that work through the love of God and neighbor. Another focus is on mission and social justice through works of compassion, reconciliation and the stewardship of God's creation. Ken's experience of working with hunger programs, gifts for needy children, Habitat for Humanity, involvement in community and school activities, care and counsel for the sick and troubled, and celebrations of the joyous passages in family lives have been an important part of his ministry.
Ken does not see himself as a one-man show, but rather a facilitator of teamwork in the ministry of the church. He uses his gifts of teaching, preaching, and leadership to encourage the members of the congregation to deepen their faith and to be active participants in God's work in the world.
Ken has been active in the work of the Presbytery of Plains and Peaks over the years. He served on the Congregational Services and Development Committee, and as its chair. He was a member of the Interim Presbytery Executive Search Committee, and currently serves on the Congregational Mission and Partnership Workgroup.
Ken has a lifelong love of reading, dating back to when his grandmother was a librarian. Ken and Dee enjoy sports, (Ken has season tickets to CSU Women’s Basketball), music, film, and singing together in the choir. They also enjoy traveling, sightseeing, and visiting with family and friends.
Dee is both an ordained elder and deacon in the Presbyterian Church. She currently serves as a member of Presbytery Council. She previously served on the Windsor New Church Development Task Force and was the Chair of the Pastoral Nominating Committee. Dee enjoys singing and ringing handbells and served as the director of the adult vocal choir at LaPorte Church. Dee is an RN with many years experience and currently works as a Nurse Consultant.
