IMPROVEMENTS TO

TIMNATH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

MADE POSSIBLE BY MEMORIAL

CONTRIBUTIONS

1995-2002

During 2000-2001, thanks to contributions of time and money from many people, the west entrance to the sanctuary of Timnath Presbyterian Church was significantly improved.  To make the entrance handicapped friendly, new, sturdy steel railings line the north and south approaches.

The focal points of the railings are two stained glass 'Medallions',  hand crafted by Pastor Emeritus Paul Moyer.  One medallion (Figure 1) welcomes all, members and guests, to the sanctuary.  The other (Figure 2) displays the seal of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  The symbol in the seal shows a cross, a Bible, a descending dove, communion table, baptismal font,  and flames on either side of the lower part of the cross.

The earth at the entrance was re-graded so that a new, concrete sidewalk could slope gently up the the doors, eliminating two steps with badly deteriorated concrete.  The new sidewalk is imprinted with 'Cross Pattée', crafted by and given as a gift from the Ritter family, Figure 3.

The entryway improvements were made possible by funds contributed in memory of John Rae and of Barney and Zadie Booth.

Two beautiful, as well as durable, energy-efficient doors (Figure 4) now replace the yellow pine doors that had opened into the sanctuary for many years.   The doors are in loving tribute to the memory of Martha Williams, purchased with funds donated by her family and friends.

The Automatic opener on East door at the top of the ramp, which makes this entrance even more handicapped accessible than before, is in memory of the Greg Rudolph family and Wilbur and Dora Jeffers.
